HOUMA -- A Terrebonne district judge denied a pair of motions Monday that would have overturned the guilty verdict a local jury handed 25-year-old Freddy Welch last month.Seconds later, the convicted murderer was sentenced to life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension.
