Domestic Violence (also called domestic abuse and intimate partner violence) is the attempt of one party in a relationship to dominate the other, whether physically or psychologically. While it is commonly understood as referring to abuse between spouses, it also includes ex-partners, cohabitants, and non-married intimate partners.   It is believed that Domestic Violence is one of the most underreported crimes in the U.S. No group of people is immune; Domestic Violence occurs in all cultures, amongst all races, ethnicities, religions. It is committed by both men and women, and both men and women can be victims. Domestic Violence occurs in both same-sex and opposite-sex relationships.
