A moving violation is any violation that’s in Title 39 where the motor vehicle code expresses that you’re going to receive points, starting with speeding tickets, careless driving, running a red light, running a stop sign and a moving violation always carries points which effects you both at Motor Vehicles and your insurance company. Some offenses don’t carry points, they’re enacted -- so really by a plea of guilty, let’s say, to obstruction of the passageway, you’re not going to receive points with Motor Vehicles or with your insurance company. Most offenses if you’re operating the motor vehicle that’s a moving violation. If you’re not wearing your seatbelt that’s a nonmoving violation and it won’t count against your record.
