REASONS YOUR LICENSE CAN BE REVOKED

Traffic Violation: Reasons your License can be Revoked

Your driver’s license can be revoked for a variety of reasons. Number one, you have too many points on your license. If you receive 12 points on your license they, you will automatically receive a suspension notice from Motor Vehicles.

Another way you can receive a revocation of your driver’s license is for failure to respond to the initial ticket, whether it’s for seatbelt, driving while intoxicated or just a common variety speeding ticket you will have an obligation to respond to that summons and appear in the court or to pay the fine by a particular day.

If you fail to pay the ticket or to come to court as directed, the judge in the municipal court will order a suspension of your license and that will be forwarded down to Division of Motor Vehicles. The Division of Motor Vehicles will prepare a suspension because you failed to respond to that notice.

There are other reasons for a suspension of your license, for instance, if you’re involved in a fatal accident there is a unit down at Motor Vehicles that seeks the suspension of one’s license and they can take your license for a period of up to five years, so. Those are the most common reasons; namely, too many points on your license as well as failure to respond to summons.
